The UK Government have launched a 3 month review into their current Net Zero Strategy, chaired by Conservative MP and Former Energy Minister Chris Skidmore.
In his address this week to the Conservative Environment Network, https://www.cen.uk.com, he reassured the audience that the review was not about resetting the existing 2050 targets or scaling back efforts, but instead about securing Net Zero investments that can deliver even greater economic growth across the UK.
He promises that the review will be consultative and collaborative, calling on consumers, investors, industrial leaders and experts in various fields including energy, land use and transport to provide input and evidence for consideration. He states that the result from the review will include a set of recommendations by the end of this year to “help turbocharge our transition to net zero by identifying key economic opportunities.”
Chris Skidmore MP, is promising the review to focus on delivering a pro-business, pro-growth and economically efficient path to reaching net zero.

Mr Skidmore spoke at Business Green’s Net Zero festival last week where he told the audience that “Net zero is a truly global phenomenon. It is no longer a target, but an economic reality that is leading international markets and investors to make decisions on the future, indeed on our future prosperity here in the UK.” Read his full speech here:
